At CVMBOI, we strive for a racially, economically, and socially just Central Valley where all children and families thrive. We prioritize education justice as a vital means to dismantle systemic inequities and create a future where everyone has the tools, support, and opportunities.

Our Approach to Policy Change

Policy Advocacy

We advocate for fair education policies that dismantle systemic injustices, particularly the school-to-prison pipeline. Rejecting punitive measures, we support restorative justice and community care. By promoting policies like SB 274, which reduces suspensions for minor issues, we aim to ensure all students can thrive and collaborate for meaningful change.

Community-Led Solutions

We believe impactful solutions come from communities affected by systemic exclusion, particularly Black communities and communities of color. Their leadership and experiences are crucial for transformative change. We prioritize their voices, collaborating with families and educators to address root causes of inequality and develop sustainable solutions.

Movement Building

We are building a powerful, inclusive movement for education justice in the Central Valley. Through leadership development, grassroots organizing, and coalition building, we empower communities to take collective action and advocate for the changes they want to see. We train and support leaders from marginalized communities to become powerful advocates for equity and justice.

Transformation

We collaborate with schools, districts, and policymakers to transform systems that perpetuate injustice. By addressing structural barriers such as racial and economic disparities, we strive to create a future where every child has access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. Our work is rooted in the belief that systemic change is possible when communities lead the way.
